District improves most in county on state tests
SAN YSIDRO: The San Ysidro School District's 2008 state math and English test scores showed the greatest improvement over last year of any of the county's 42 public school districts, according to an analysis by the County Office of Education.
In spring testing, 34 percent of San Ysidro students scored proficient or above on the state's English and language arts test, compared with 28 percent last year. | Dr. Barry Groves has served as superintendent of the Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District since July 1, 2006. Previously, Barry was superintendent of the Cambrian School District in San Jose for 14 years. During his career, he has served as an assistant superintendent, principal, assistant principal, curriculum coordinator, consultant, and high school teacher. He earned a BA in American Studies and an MA degree in education from the University of California, Santa Barbara. His EdD and another MA degree are in Administration and Policy Analysis from Stanford University. He lives in Los Gatos with his wife Julie, and their two boys, Dylan and Holden, who attend Cal and UCSD, respectively.
